Xively (formerly known as Cosm and Pachube) is an Internet of Things (IoT) platform owned by Google. Xively is basically a data collection, management, and distribution platform.
Xively offers product companies a way to connect products, manage connected devices and the data they produce, and integrate that data into other systems. Xively is a Platform as a Service built for the IoT.
Xively includes:
- directory services
- data services
- a trust engine for security and
- web-based management application
Xively’s messaging is built on a publish-subscribe protocol called MQTT. The API supports REST, WebSockets, and MQTT. All the devices can be connected to Xively Cloud for real-time processing and archiving to the cloud.
Note: Xively is no longer available as a separate entity. It is now part of Google Cloud platform.

Suryateja Pericherla, at present is a Research Scholar (full-time Ph.D.) in the Dept. of Computer Science & Systems Engineering at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Previously worked as an Associate Professor in the Dept. of CSE at Vishnu Institute of Technology, India.
He has 11+ years of teaching experience and is an individual researcher whose research interests are Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Computer Security, Network Security and Blockchain.
He is a member of professional societies like IEEE, ACM, CSI and ISCA. He published several research papers which are indexed by SCIE, WoS, Scopus, Springer and others.
