In this article we will look at what is a cloud, what is cloud computing, cloud computing services and cloud computing risks.
What is Cloud?
The “Cloud” is the combination of hardware (servers, disks, networking equipment) and software (virtualization software, operating system and other services) needed to run the hardware in a data center.
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.
Cloud Computing Services
Services provided by cloud computing are:
- Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)
- Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)
Cloud Computing Risks
Risks associated with cloud computing are:
- Elevated user access
- Regulatory compliance
- Location of the data
- Segregation of data
- Recovery of data
- Information security violation
- Long-term viability
