In this article we will look at what is an attack vector and some examples of attack vectors using which cyber attacks are performed.
What is an Attack Vector?
An attack vector is a path or means by which an attacker can gain access to the target (machine) to deliver payload. Attack vectors allow attackers to exploit system vulnerabilities. To some extent, firewalls and anti-virus software can block attack vectors.
Examples of Attack Vectors
Some of examples of attack vectors are:
- E-mail attacks
- Attachments and other files
- Attack by deception (social engineering)
- Hackers
- Phishing
- Worms
